On 19 May 2023, the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine held an academic and practical online workshop titled “Aut inveniam viam, aut faciam” — “I shall either find a way or make one”. The workshop was focused on various aspects concerning translation in the humanities and social sciences, as well as scholarly and cross-cultural communication. The event was dedicated to the Europe Day in Ukraine. The workshop participants were represented by researchers and faculty staff from a number of institutions such as Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Hryhorii Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Ukraine, Institute of International Relations of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”, Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv), Faculty of Sociology of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukrainian School of Archetypes (Kyiv), Institute of Ethnology of the NAS of Ukraine (Lviv), Kyiv National Linguistic University and Centre for Urban History of East Central Europe (Lviv).

In total, twelve talks and presentations were given. The workshop ended with a thematic discussion in which everyone could take part. The event was moderated by Ol’ha Maksymenko (Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine) and Natalia Otrishchenko (Centre for Urban History of East Central Europe). Technical and organisational support was fully provided by Serhii Dembitskyi, Deputy Director of the Institute of Sociology, and Iryna Marynich, temporary acting Academic Secretary of the Institute.

Some of the participants’ talks and presentations are included in the article below.
