Sociology: the Role Model on Between-Extremes Pathway (Guide of the XIX ISA World Congress)

Abstract. What trends of development are highlighted in the current and nearest future of sociology? The key issues of the functioning of sociology per ce as well as the global social development through sociological optics are outlined on the basis of proceeding materials (mainly the Presidential Address, and presidential and plenary sessions) of the XIX ISA World Congress (Toronto, July 15–21, 2018). There are discussed the conceptual dimensions of the sociology role model, proposed by the Congress for the coming future under the social development challenges like ‘brutalization of the world’, forced capitalist transformations, mass derivation of the unconscious, global protests of the oppressed. The pathway of sociological activities towards intellectual, moral, and social responsibility, including reflection of challenges and production of grounded sociological visions, are defined.
